Holographics Embossing - Medium
Web
Principle
The substrate passes between a rotating embossing roller which carries
the embossing shim and a rotating compliant impression roller. The
embossed area produced is up to 40 inches long and as wide as the
shim. The shim itself takes up just over half the circumference of
the embossing roller so each revolution produces an embossed area
and a blank area similar in size. The blank area is embossed by passing
the substrate once more through the embossing roller and a second
compliant impression roller. A variable length timing loop is incorporated
to allow precise positioning for the second embossing.
The
MW range uses high temperatures and pressures to emboss a wide range
of substrates with holographic images. The image is derived from a
micro embossed nickel plate mounted on an embossing roller. The substrate
is reel fed to the embossing unit and re-reeled after embossing. The
process used can be hard or soft embossing, dependant upon the substrate
being embossed. The
MW range is constructed on a standard design precision space frame.
The basic machine uses three modules to mount the unwind, embossing
and rewind units. The construction ensures straight, low stress web
handling, essential for trouble free processing. The modular construction
also allows easy modification of the web path and the economic addition
of other functions such as laminating or slitting units at a later
date.
Parent
reels are mounted on 75mm air shafts in quick release safety chucks.
The product is rewound on an identical unit. Unwind and rewind tension
control is provided by closed loop load cell systems allowing substrates
down to 12 micron to be processed without stretching.
Controls
are mounted in a free standing console adjacent to the embossing unit
and are designed to be simple and user friendly for maximum productivity. |

CCE's range of micro embossing machines are designed to
produce embossed holographic substrates for packaging and security
applications. The range includes 6", 12" (on our narrow
web machines), 16", 30" and 40" machines.
A
wide range of substrates can be handled such as:
OPP (20-30 micron)
PVC (20-40 micron)
Acetate Coated Papers
(12-100 micron)
PET (12-50 micron)
Hot stamping foil
CCE's micro embossing machine is designed for high volume embossing.
A range of substrates with a web width of up to 40 inches can be handled.
